South Coast Hospice Palliative Home Care
Providing care and support to both
patients and family members through our interdisciplinary team. All staff are
palliative care trained and services are provided by a professional nurse,
psycho-social counselor, and social worker. Dr Hilton Horsley oversees all
clinical interventions. Patient referrals are essential for admittance onto the
program.
Trauma Grief and Bereavement
As part of the interdisciplinary team,
trauma grief and bereavement counseling form an integral role which is often
ignored, however, palliative care focuses on the entire person, body mind &
spirit/culture. The role of palliative care is to bring all elements of the
entire being together for the best possible outcome.
Social Worker
Our social worker works with the
interdisciplinary team and is also available to assist with grants, ID
documents etc. They form an integral part of the grief and bereavement
counseling in IsiZulu.
Kingfisher day clinic
Cervical, Breast and Prostate cancer
screenings done by appointment every Tuesday. All other clinic interventions
are per arrangement with the clinical manager.
Equipment Hire
South Coast Hospice has a comprehensive
range of medical equipment including beds, wheelchairs, walkers, commodes,
toilet raisers, etc available to the public for hire.
CCMDD
South Coast Hospice is a Central Chronic
Medicines Dispensing and Distribution pick up point. If you are a recipient of
chronic medication through the provincial hospital/clinic and want to avoid
long queues, please ask your clinic to distribute your medicine through South
Coast Hospice. Making adherence to treatment matter.
Support Groups
An integral part of our grief and
bereavement support are our various occupational therapy support groups.
Mobile Clinic
The mobile clinic, generously donated to
us by The Victor Daitz Foundation, is a valuable asset and is used extensively
on outreach projects, like cervical screening in rural communities, HIV test
and treat services, PB screening and Covid vaccine drives.
Training
South Coast Hospice Training Centre
offers a 6 week Home Based Care course with a practical component, as well as a
3-week HIV counseling course. Bookings are essential. Certification upon
completion of the course.
Mental Health Bethania Wellness Centre
For the rehabilitation and reintegration
of men living with mental health challenges back into their communities
Mental Health Homecare
The homecare is essential
for the support of the patient and family members in guidance and understanding
of the challenges that are experienced and the importance of adherence to
medication.
